Norwegian Cruise Line Ships
Norwegian Cruise Line currently has a fleet of 11 ships that have entered service for the cruise line between 1992 and 2008. NCL also has a Hawaiian arm NCL America that currently owns one ship; Pride of America that entered service for them in 2005.
The NCL fleet consists of Norwegian Dream, Norwegian Majesty, Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Jade.
Three of the main cruise ships are Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Jewel.
Norwegian Gem is the new addition to the fleet joining in 2007 and is part of the Jewel Class of ships. She spent her first season at her home port in Manhattan sailing to the Bahamas, Florida and the Caribbean. She spent summer 2008 in Barcelona sailing to the Mediterranean and will spend spring 2009 sailing to Florida and the Bahamas.
Norwegian Jade is another ship in the Jewel Class of ships. She was previously Pride of Hawaii operating for NCL America before she went into service for Norwegian Cruise Line in 2008 as Norwegian Jade.
Norwegian Jewel was the first ship in the Jewel Class of ships after entering service for NCL in 2005. She currently spends her spring and summer months on various cruise in Europe followed by cruise to Canada in the autumn. She also sails to the Caribbean from Miami at various times in the year.
The Jewel Class of ships is the first ship class to play host to its very own onboard bowling alleys. The first ship of this class was Norwegian Jewel followed by Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Pearl and finally Norwegian Gem.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Jade will spend some of next year sailing in and out of the UK.
